Raspberry Island Ice-Out 2011: Day 10

Oh for crying out loud! The ground is blanketed in two inches of fresh snow this morning! All my talk about the coming of spring and not using the woodstove so much anymore and putting away the winter gear and all that dreamy nonsense was apparently naive and premature.

The morning snowfall made it feel like the first snow of the season -- kind of pretty, if you're into that kind of thing -- so we made a special breakfast in our sleek new kitchen: a Swedish oven pancake. It didn't puff up like it's supposed to, even though we followed the recipe closely. But it smelled great in here, and it tasted wonderful.

Today is a lazy day: the kitchen is 99.9% done (before & after photos pending) and it's too miserable to be outside. It's a good day to take the Kindle up into the loft and read a book, like they did in the old days.
